When Tutoring Isn’t the Answer. . . (What’s the Difference?)
The BrainLinking Approach

Genius.
We know they have it. Parents know it. But often students don’t know it. They have begun to feel stupid and expect failure. BrainLinking helps them transform negative experiences into satisfying, lasting successes.
The BrainLinking Program is Unique
· Identifies specific underlying problems
· Uses scientific proven methods to develop learning skills
· Helps students prepare their brains to learn
We’re often asked, “Why does my child . . .
- Repeat all the lines of a movie but struggle with basic multiplication facts?”
- Discuss science concepts in much detail but flunk the test?”
- Whiz through math but not understand what is read?”
- Stay intensely focused with Legos but not stick to anything else?”
- Prefer to stand up and pace while talking or thinking?”
- Constantly fidget & wiggle while studying?”
- Lose focus after fifteen minutes of classwork?”
We identify if the student
- Understands concrete things better than abstract symbols
- Remembers what is seen easier than what is heard
- Remembers better what is done than what is heard or seen
- Learns more easily sitting down or standing up
- Processes words more efficiently than numbers
- Gets things into the memory but is unable to retrieve them for use
For example, let’s consider fifth-grade Jason, who struggles to remember basic multiplication facts, but recalls the lines of a movie almost verbatim. We might discover that he has poorly developed symbolic memory; abstractions such as numbers and symbols in times tables are difficult for him to retain. On the other hand, we learn that he has a beautifully developed auditory memory, so jokes and movie lines come easily for him.
From these findings, an individualized program of development is designed for the student.
Initial Assessment and Conference
A BrainLinking program begins with a comprehensive assessment of 16 foundational learning skills. From that evaluation we identify how the student processes information and which areas of learning are working well and which areas are causing a student’s struggle and frustration.
Various methods of evaluation are utilized
Balance, coordination, and fine and gross motor skills are observed while the student being tested performs several prescribed kinetic and sequencing motor skill activities. Some exercises are performed on a balance board, balance beam, or other simple equipment.

Other Skill Assessments
- Focus and concentration (including ADD & ADHD)
- Visual, auditory and kinetic memory
- Laterality, directionality and spatiality
- Sequencing, ordering, and organization
- Kinetic and tactile processing
- Learning style
- Ability to correctly decipher and understand words (Dyslexia)
- Ability to correctly decipher and process numbers and mathematical symbols (Dyscalculia)
- Ability to detect and understand sounds in spoken language (a part of Central Auditory Processing)
- Logic and reasoning
- Motivation to learn!!!!!

CONFERENCE: Shortly after the assessment, findings are discussed with the student and parents. During this interview, many of our clients express amazement at the pinpoint accuracy with which known strengths are identified and the basis of difficulties is clearly defined. Typically, the greater the frustration has been, the more inspiring the “Aha” moment when student and parents suddenly realize there is rescue from the cycle of failure and distress. Relief and Hope surge when parents see how the BrainLinking program transforms lives and can bring success to their children!
Training Program
Our enjoyable and engaging activities develop lasting and measurable skills for learning success.
Children and adults alike are eager to begin the exciting process of building and developing those dormant brain links that are awaiting conscious attention to bring them to life and put them to work.
The success of the BrainLinking Program lies in our understanding and application of research-based learning principles to each student’s program.
Best results are achieved when students are fully supported by the active participation of a parent, grandparent or other supportive adult during at-home activities.
Clients are coached in activities and exercises which stimulate the creation of the integral brain links required for specific and non-specific learning. In other words, clients develop areas of learning that are not currently working optimally and prepare all areas of their brains for successful and confident learning experiences.
Each Individualized program is four months and consists of two parts
- 1 weekly visit with a trainer in the center
- 3 weekly home sessions of 40-60 minutes
Individualized Home Programs are an option for clients living beyond the local area. A supervising parent or other adult is trained to assist with the at-home program activities via periodically scheduled web media consultations. Reading Plus® and Math training are delivered online.
